Meet River!
Introducing River Steinberg, a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (M.S., CCC-SLP), making a meaningful impact in San Luis Obispo County.
With a passion for enhancing the lives of children through communication, River specializes in speech sound disorders and orofacial myofunctional therapy. Her journey into the world of speech pathology has been shaped by a diverse range of professional experiences spanning public schools, leadership camps, and private practices.
River is originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia and moved to San Luis Obispo in 2018. River attended the University of Virginia, double majoring with a B.S.Ed in Speech Pathology & Audiology and a B.A. in Psychology. She graduated early and went on to receive her Masters of Science in Communication Sciences Disorders from James Madison University.
River's journey to becoming a speech pathologist is deeply rooted in personal experiences with speech sound disorders. Witnessing her brother's persistent thumb sucking habit, her nephews' difficulties being understood, and her aunt's journey with cerebral palsy, River was inspired to pursue a career that could make a real difference.
When River is not in her clinic, she enjoys an active and outdoorsy lifestyle. She loves to hike, play soccer, and surf the Central Coast’s waves. She also engages in training her cats to communicate using push-to-talk buttons.
What sets River apart is not only her expertise in the field but also her extensive background as a child communication expert. Boasting over 10 years of nannying experience, she melds a unique understanding of the challenges and joys of working with children into her speech therapy practice. River forges deep connections with families, making her a trusted ally in the journey toward improved children reaching their full communication potential.
River's commitment to her work goes beyond the clinical setting; she thrives on creating a positive and supportive environment for the children she serves. Her ability to connect with families on a personal level and genuine love for helping kids achieve their communication potential make her a standout professional in San Luis Obispo County.
